We Think Jane Can
Support Jane Kim's "I gotta have friends!" Campaign while helping homeless youth
Goal
My goal is to KEEP MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS! (And maybe make a few new ones in the process...)
To help achieve this goal, I pledge to cook a MONTHLY DINNER for an intimate group of friends (4-5) in 2009, starting in April.
This means I need to acquire a dining table and chairs. (Yes, I don't have a dining set - yet.) Please help me achieve my goal by donating to At The Crossroads. Every $100 I am able to fundraise will guarantee that I will cook ONE DINNER. I'd like to cook 10 dinners and raise $1,000.
Once I raise my first $100, I will begin planning my first dinner and - of course- expedite the acquisition of a dining table set.
If you contribute $50, you will be guaranteed a spot for dinner at my house.
If you contribute $100, you can bring a friend!
Regardless, top donors each month will be invited to my house for a dinner cooked by moi. Contribute early, as I will have the aid of a somelier and trained chef in April, May and June!
Please give to this deserving organization and also help support my social "safety net" and mental well-being. It would be a treat to see the faces of loved ones around my table and engage in some stimulating conversation over dinner.
I chose this goal because
As many of you know (and as many of you can relate to), I am quite busy! I feel stretched thin for time. I also love my friends and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. My friends provide support, good conversations, fits of laughter, relaxation, intellectual stimulation and fulfill my need to feel loved!
I can't remember the last time I cooked dinner for a group of friends at my house. It has been at least TWO YEARS, since I was sworn onto the Board of Education. Well that is going to change this year-- with YOUR HELP!
I'm helping because
I have been a friend of ATC for 10 years. This organization was started by a friend who I highly respect and admire, Rob Gitin. ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. ATC works with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without their savvy support and informed outreach. Since ATC started 10 years ago, it has worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
I limit the number of organizations I fundraise for each year. But each year, I try to support amazing youth programs, because well-developed youth work is central to what I am passionate about. Learn more about ATC here:
