I was going to donate $1000, but apparently Mark beat me to the punch. Here's a buck for each mile under your belt.

Dear John, I pledged to doante $1 to ATC for everyone who participated in the Campaign. He tells me thats 117 people. Please know that this contribution in no way reflects any respect for either you or your accomplishments during the previouns month. I was, in fact, going to contribute to your brother's campaign because we all know the youth are the future. However, the picture of old man swimming in his ski cap is charming, and I was won over.

John, very delayed donation on your behalf. 40 miles in the Bay is impressive. Have you taken Rob out yet?

Goal

To complete the Dolphin Club's Polar Bear Swim: Swim 40 miles in the San Francisco Bay during the winter, no wetsuit. From December 21 to March 21, I will brave the icy waters until I have swum at least 40 miles.

I chose this goal because

Who doesn't want to swim in 50 degree water? It's refreshing.

I'm helping because

I've been volunteering with ATC one way or another for about 12 years. It provides a tremendous service for people who have missed the various safety nets of society. Without ATC, many of these young people would have no hope and no one in their corner.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.

Updates

Done! Swam 1.5 miles on March 21st to make it to 40 miles. Thanks for all your support everyone.
