I chose this goal because
I want to devote more time and creative energy to a musical group that I love being a part of. As some of you may know, I've got a lot going on in my life. Working for ATC full time and getting my masters already makes my plate pretty full. And something I love to do but don't have a lot of time these days to devote to is SINGING, especially with Jahlectrik - a San Francisco based New World Reggae band. I've been in the band for almost 2 years and when I perform with them, I'm tapping into that creative outlet I rarely pay attention to. And I have so much fun with the boys on stage and the fans dancing and singing along!
Writing new material with the band is something we've been talking about for a long time and now, it's time. We've been through a lot of highs and lows this past year and we're ready to go forward. Last year, our band mate and friend, Brandon McKee, passed away at 29 years old. I think he would want this for Jahlectrik and for me.
I'm helping because
I love my job as an Outreach Counselor, I care about homeless youth, and I want ATC to keep going for a looooong time. I believe San Francisco and the world NEEDS ATC!!!
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
