We Think Liz Can
Support Liz's Campaign while helping homeless youth
Goal
My goal is to exercise 4 times each week of the campaign and lose a total of 15 pounds.
I know I can do the first part (I'm already on a post-New Year's Resolution roll!), but it's the second part that scares me. Making this goal public will help me to stay focused; knowing that my efforts translate into support for ATC is the icing on the cake. Did someone say cake???
Another motivator: for any week that I do not exercise 4 times, I will up my own contribution to ATC by $25. Sorry, Rob, but there's not going to be much extra money in it for you guys!
Incidentally, if you think it would be more entertaining to pay by the pound I lose, that sounds great! Just let me know....
I chose this goal because
In January of 2008, I made a commitment to stop using every excuse I could think of (pregnancy, children, husband, work, life!) for eating poorly and avoiding exercise. I re-joined Weight Watchers and Curves and started a regime that led to my losing a total of 15% of my body weight in 2008. I admit that I am quite pleased with myself, but I still have more to lose. 15 pounds is definitely ambitious for 10 weeks, but I figure it's important to set the bar high, right?
I'm helping because
Having been a teacher for the past 15 years, I know how important it is for children to have the unconditional encouragement of people who love them and can help them to recognize what is special about themselves. Children need to believe in themselves in order to achieve all of which they are capable. At the Crossroads reaches out to those who are discouraged and may not know what makes them special. An organization such as this deserves as much support as it can get.
Oh, and Rob and I have known each other for a thousand years. :)
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
