We Think Mary Can
Support Mary's Campaign for Mirth while helping homeless youth
Goal
Supposedly the average person laughs 13 times a day. Last year, I was woefully below average. In these serious times, I am soliciting the help of you, my community.
I vow to laugh more in 2010 than I did in 2009. In the interest of full disclosure, in the course of meeting this important goal I might laugh inappropriately, too loudly, or to the point of crying (see photo). I might also be the only one who understands why I'm laughing. I vow to do my best to avoid humor at anyone else's expense, and I don't like practical jokes, so rest assured those are out of the picture. I also hope to raise money for At The Crossroads so they can continue their fine work with homeless youth.
I hope you can support this effort, but even if you don't have money to contribute, please check the site periodically, as I plan to provide proof that I am working toward my goal. You can also help by sending or continuing to send me funny stuff (you know who you are) and playing along when I get a little silly.
I chose this goal because
I'm actually pretty Type A and this is a way for me to make light of my achievement-oriented personality. I can also be kind of gloomy sometimes. Oh, forget it. Someone else put this much better than I can.
I'm helping because
I want to help ATC get their work done. This is a creative way to raise awareness about homeless youth and raise money for an organization that gets things done.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
