Hey Megan -- Yes you can! love you, Laura

Goal

I plan to run 500 miles in the 50 days between April 1 and May 20, because as one famous running coach (Bill Squires) has said: "The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat."

10 miles every day is a long haul for a recreational runner like me. My toenails will turn black and blue, my joints will ache, and my skin will chafe. For many of the miles it'll be pouring down rain here in Boston. So please support At The Crossroads in order to help me maintain my motivation!

I'll post updates & photos of my mileage, toenails, chafing, and puddle-stomping. Raar.

I chose this goal because

I love to run. I look forward to my run each day. I feel free when I hear my feet on the empty streets at dawn. I run so I can watch the fog roll in and the brown hills spring into green. I run because when I've made it all the way up Twin Peaks on a cold, clear day and look out over Marin, it seems like anything is possible.

I'm helping because

I believe that everyone deserves condoms, clean socks, someone to talk to, and the freedom to imagine how life could be different. I believe that everyone deserves more tiger in their cat! If you do too, please support At The Crossroads by donating now.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.

Updates

This morning as Margaret and I headed home across the Charles River we realized: it's spring! I'll begrudgingly admit that spring is lovely here in Boston.

To the mystery anonymous person from West Roxbury: Please tell me who you are so that I may thank you properly! Also, um, please tell me: where is West Roxbury, anyway?
