Goal

My goal for the campaign is to say my poetry at an open mic night. The more money that I raise the more incentive I will have to overcome my fears, and achieve my goal.

I chose this goal because

One of my lifetime goals has always been to share my poetry with others. I have been writing poetry for years, but due to a huge fear of rejection as well as a fear of speaking in front of an audience I have never been able to say my poetry out loud to strangers. It has been one of those goals that I desperately want to achieve, but that I have never had the push to actually reach for. As a counselor I am constantly trying to help others to know that they are capable of things that they once thought to be impossible, so I am going to take that same thought process and put it towards my own life. To me this goal is a symbol for me that I can do the things that I have always wanted to. The campaign seems like I perfect time to achieve this longtime goal, while also raising money for an amazing organization.

I'm helping because

I am helping At the Crossroads, because in the 2 years of working at the organization I have seen that this organization is not only building relationships with street youth, but also changing the lives of so many in a real way. I come to work everyday knowing that I have purpose and feel good about what I am doing in the world, because I believe so strongly that this work makes a difference. ATC is basically the bomb!

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
