Goal

I will run up AND down the Lyon Street steps one time for every $2 raised.

I chose this goal because

As some of you know, I plan on taking a glacier mountaineering trip in Alaska this June and it's time to kick the training into high gear!! Running stairs builds the muscles used in climbing and boosts cardio fitness. Your donated dollars will provide motivation during long, sweaty, stair-filled workouts. Reports differ, but the stairs up Lyon Street span nearly two blocks...l'll get an exact step count during my first trip! I will dodge photo snapping tourists and breeze by (haha) various fitness Boot Camp participants in my quest for ultimate mountaineering readiness. One last note: I will not be suffering TOO much as the views of San Francisco from Lyon Street are postcard worthy--bonus!

I'm helping because

I volunteer at ATC preparing supplies such as toiletries, new clothing items, candy packs, and birthday cards for distribution to their clients. I have also encouraged/harassed my frequent flier friends into hoarding hotel toiletries for donation to ATC. We collected an impressive supply! As a volunteer, I have seen first hand that donating to ATC is an effective way to make a significant positive impact on the lives of homeless youth.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.

Updates

They're waiting for me!
