Who is Spinning Spokes For Homeless Folks

Spinning Spokes for Homeless Folks is a month-long cycling event, created in partnership with Mission Cycling, a neighborhood-based cycling club. It starts on September 1, and ends on September 30, although you can extend it longer, if you want. Here's how it works:

1) Click the Join This Team button below and sign up.

2) Pick a goal for how many miles you want to ride in September and how much money you want to raise. We'll fill out the rest of your page.

3) Get your friends and family to sponsor you by sending three emails. We've got simple pre-written emails for you to send. No thinking required. Just pedaling.

4) Ride your tail off in September. Seriously. If you still have a butt at the end of the month, you have not ridden enough.

Mission Cycling will help both members and non-members find people to ride with during this September event, so that people participating in Spinning Spokes will always have someone to keep them company. They're a swarthy, immoral bunch, but oddly likable.

Goal

The goal is to ride as many miles as you can in September to raise money for homeless youth, and so you can fit into those skinny jeans again! It's pretty straight-forward. Pick a number of miles that will challenge you, but is still doable. And then ride.

If you are one of those people who is happier the more you bike, then this is a great way to motivate to stay on your bike and raise money for a good cause.

People participating in Spinning Spokes will be invited to the wrap party in October. There will be drinks and prizes. There might also be some break dancing. No promises though.

I'm helping because

Mission Cycling helped create Spinning Spokes for Homeless Folks because they like the idea of supporting an organization in their own backyard that is working to make their community healthier and safer. ATC works with young people on the streets of the San Francisco that get overlooked, and that need all the help they can get. ATC helps these youth move beyond the streets, and build outstanding lives.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 14 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,500 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
