We Think Tim Can
Support Tim's Slam Dunk while helping homeless youth
Goal
I want to slam dunk a basketball into an official, ten-foot hoop.
I currently stand at 5 feet 11 inches, have bad knees, and rock a full-time job. As if I don't have enough working against me, I am fighting the stigma "White men can't jump". Upon completion, this is what I will be doing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSA_Di2vliU&feature=related
I chose this goal because
I have a history of knee issues and I'm only 23. Yikes! Training for a slam dunk requires shedding upper body weight (good for knees), daily stretching (great for knees), and building quad muscles (amazing for knees!). Also, being able to dunk is cool, really cool. I will be posting updates on my progress in the weight room as well as other tid-bits along the way. Are you still not sure you want to support me? Allow me to incentivize your donation...
If you donate $1 - $49, I will recognize your philanthropy on my Facebook page (expected hits 3 million/day)
If you donate $50- $99, I will dedicate a work-out session to you, and call you afterwards to tell you how it went
If you donate more than $100, your name will appear in my final dunk video, posted on youtube
The more you donate, the higher I jump, plain and simple, lets make it happen for ATC and myself!
I'm helping because
I have had the pleasure of working for ATC over the past 5 months, and for those who don't already know, this is an extraordinary cause. This organization takes the right approach in dealing with clients, ATC doesn't look at homeless youth and say "you need to get a job" or "you need to get off of drugs". ATC works on empowering individuals to make their own decisions in life, and in so doing, create sustainable change. Here's a fact that perfectly embodies ATC's approach: in 12 years of existence, not one client has been kicked out of the program. How many other support organizations can say that?
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 10 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
