We Think They Can
Support Write-a-thon's Campaign while helping homeless youth
Who is Write-a-thon
We are writers with compassion. Some of us are published. Some of us would like to be published someday and are still working toward that goal. Some of us just write for fun. One thing we have in common is the drive to express ourselves through our writing. We are more than just writers, though. We also care about helping homeless teens achieve a better life. By participating in this write-a-thon we are doing our small part to make a big difference in the lives of these amazing young people.
We each have our own writing goals we would like to achieve during 2012. When you check the individual team member pages you’ll discover what those goals are. Writers have to battle procrastination, limited schedules, and all those little demons that get lumped under the label of ‘writer’s block’. Despite these challenges, we want to reach our personal writing goals this year, whether it is to complete a certain number of words per day, or certain number of pages per week, or maybe to complete a novel by year’s end. By supporting our write-a-thon efforts we’ll have that extra motivation and accountability to reach those goals while supporting an awesome cause.
I'm helping because
As writers we get to create amazing worlds where anything is possible. We develop characters who connect with the reader. We get to travel with them as they fight to overcome the odds and the obstacles, to strive for goals beyond their reach, and through growth become more than they ever thought they could be. And that is what ATC wants for their client. For real teens. The writers in this write-a-thon want to reach out to these young people through the talents and compassion of ATC. We want to help write the story of their young lives. The story that will carry homeless teens from the violence, hardship and heartbreak of the streets, bring them through the process of growth and self discovery, arm them with the skills to build a life not just of subsistence but of self fulfillment, and celebrate with them as they leave the streets behind them and step out into the world knowing there is nothing they can’t accomplish.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 18 years ago, we have worked with more than 7,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
