Make a Gift of Securities
Ask your broker to transfer shares of stock directly to ATC’s E*TRADE account. Giving stock offers many tax advantages-it allows you to avoid the capital gains tax and it gives you the ability to deduct the fair market value of the stock. Discuss these approaches with your financial advisor.
Make an IRA Charitable Transfer
If you are 70.5 years of age or older, you can make a transfer from your IRA without paying income tax on that withdrawal. Since the gift is not included in the donor’s gross income, no charitable income tax deduction is allowed for the gift. This “rollover provision” has been made permanent as of 2015.
In-kind donations are absolutely essential to At The Crossroads! We rely on the generosity of companies and individuals to help keep our shelves stocked with high quality clothing, hygiene items, messenger bags, and more. We can always use new or very gently used items.
