We are thrilled to announce that Artavia Berry will serve as At The Crossroad’s next Executive Director.
After an extensive search, Artavia stood out as a seasoned, dynamic nonprofit leader with the vision to lead ATC into its exciting next chapter. Artavia is a lifelong youth development worker and passionate about bringing programs and experiences to marginalized and homeless youth. She also cares deeply about mentoring and coaching the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
Artavia will succeed Charles Lerner, who has led ATC since May 2019. We are profoundly grateful to Charles for his exemplary leadership and relentless focus on serving ATC’s clients and supporting ATC’s staff – from guiding ATC during the pandemic to crafting ATC’s bold strategic initiatives to achieving pay equity within the organization. Artavia will begin working with ATC on April 26, and Charles will remain with the organization until late May to ensure a seamless transition. We look forward to welcoming Artavia in the coming weeks and giving a fond farewell to Charles.
Artavia joins ATC with over 20 years of experience leading nonprofits. A native of Chicago, she has held leadership positions with Meals on Wheels Chicago, Chicago SCORES, Public Allies Chicago, Building with Books, LaSalle Senior Center, and Christ the King Jesuit High School. Most recently, Artavia served as the Executive Director of Super Stars Literacy Oakland where she provided literacy access to youth across the Oakland Unified School District. Artavia is currently serving as the Regional Director of the Jefferson Awards Foundation and the Vice-Chair of the Hayward Community Service Commission where she helps shape public policy related to anti-racism, racial equity, re-imagining policing, access to homeownership, business development, and culturally relevant education for the BIPOC community. Artavia holds a BA in Sociology from Loyola University of Chicago and a BA in Theology and Master of Divinity from Grace Christian Seminary.
Please join us in welcoming Artavia to ATC!
