Charlie Fredrick (they/them) is Deputy Director with At The Crossroads, where they support work with young people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. They bring more than 18 years of experience in social change across the nonprofit and higher education sectors, with work spanning direct services, education, policy and advocacy, and community organizing. Charlie’s commitment to housing justice is rooted in their working-class upbringing. They moved frequently between rental homes with their young single mother, and saw how low wages, gendered exploitation, and housing insecurity shaped their family’s life. Those experiences continue to inform Charlie’s belief that responding to homelessness means both meeting people’s immediate needs and supporting their power to shape the systems affecting their lives. Charlie’s approach to change work is shaped by grassroots feminism, intersectional movement-building, direct democracy, and transformative organizing. Charlie holds a B.A. in Individualized Studies, with a concentration in Embodiment & Transformative Social Change, from Metropolitan State University of Denver. When not working, Charlie enjoys spending time with friends, listening to records, and reading.
